How to Create a New Web Server Certificate

Creating a web server certificate in Internet Information Services (IIS) is a process that assures users and browsers of your domain that the information is secure. When browsers access your site with a certificate setup, the reader downloads the certificate and communication is encrypted between the user's machine and your web server. Creating a certificate is completed through the IIS console.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the Windows "Start" button and select "Settings." Select "Control Panel" from the menu.

Right-click the web server in the left side of the window panel, then select "Properties" from the menu.
