Decorate an exquisite sparkling Christmas tree this year with sequin pin balls. They are easy to make, and they produce an expensive-looking decoration for very little money. These beautiful ornaments are made with sequins pinned to a satin ball ornament using short sequin pins and small beads. They make up very quickly and will be a best seller at Christmas craft bazaars. This is a wonderful class arts and craft project for Christmas. The students can craft the sequin pin balls for gifts and decorations.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Satin ball Styrofoam ornament, 2 1/2-inch diameter
  • Craft glue
  • Sequin pins
  • Small beads
  • Sequins, 8 mm
  • 1/8-inch-wide gold ribbon, small amount
  • Measuring tape
  1. Step 1

Apply a line of craft glue to the satin ornament, beside the hanger and all the way around the ornament in a ring. End the glue line on the other side of the hanger. Insert a sequin pin through a bead and then through the top of the sequin. Insert the pin into the glue line on the ornament. Repeat with additional sequin pins, beads and sequins along the line around the ornament.

  2. Step 2

Apply a line of craft glue to the satin ornament, in front of the hanger and all the way around the ornament in a ring. End the glue line at the back of the hanger. Repeat with more sequin pins, beads and sequins along the new line around the ornament. The two rings intersect at the top of the sequin pin ball ornament and the bottom, creating four equal sections on the ball.

  3. Step 3

Apply craft glue to the inside of one section. Insert additional sequin pins, beads and sequins to fill in the section. Work in vertical rows beside the edges of the section outline to fill in. This will give the most pleasing design. To complete, fill in the center of the section by overlapping, if needed. Repeat for the remaining sections on the pin ball.

  4. Step 4

Measure and cut a 6-inch length of 1/8-inch-wide gold ribbon. Thread the ribbon through the hanger on the sequin pin ball ornament. Bring the ends of the ribbon together and tie an overhand knot 1 inch from the end. Allow the craft glue to dry.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use satin Styrofoam ornaments that are the same color as the sequins you are using to help the sequins blend with the ball. When choosing the beads, make sure the holes are large enough for a sequin pin to be inserted.
