Stencils are used to create painted wall trim, craft decorations and to enhance card making or scrapbook pages. A minaret-shaped stencil can be made from a plastic sheet or cardboard, which can be used for chalk, paint or ink. Mylar or plastic sheets can be found in craft sections and in any store that sells plastic stencils for decorating walls. You will be able to make stencils of the mosque towers in any size for your projects.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mylar or plastic sheet 4 to 7 mm thick
  • Lightweight cardboard
  • Xacto or craft knife
  1. Step 1

Find a photo of a minaret or make a line drawing of one of the tall mosque towers.

  2. Step 2

Increase or decrease the minaret tower to the size you need for your project with a copy machine or scanner.

  3. Step 3

Place the Mylar over the picture and trace around the outline of the tower. Place the Mylar and picture onto a light box or against a window if you have a problem seeing the photo or line drawing through the Mylar sheet.

  4. Step 4

Place the Mylar on a self-healing cutting mat. Cut the outline of the minaret tower with the craft knife. You now have a pliable stencil that can be used on walls, wood, paper and glass.

  5. Step 5

Repeat steps one and two then cut out the minaret tower from the photo paper. Trace the tower shape onto light weight cardboard.

  6. Step 6

Cut out the minaret shape from the cardboard with a craft knife for a stencil. Cardboard stencils will work on flat surfaces.
