      Rub the area with rubbing alcohol on a clean cloth. This works especially well with scuff marks from shoes and appliance legs.

      Mix one part bleach with four parts water for tougher stains such as juice and tomato sauce. Soak a cloth in the mixture and lay over the stain for an hour.

      Wipe away excess bleach with clean water. Repeat as necessary until the stain fades.

      Purchase oxyalic acid from a hardware or paint store to remove rust stains. Always wear gloves when using the oxyalic acid. Dip a clean cloth in the acid and lay it on top of the stain for 10 minutes. Repeat two to three times until the stain disappears.
