The Fulbright Scholar Program provides opportunities for US scholars to conduct research, teach or engage in other academic pursuits in foreign countries. The program awards grants to scholars for specific projects that are undertaken in a defined time period. Some foreign countries may propose projects in search of a scholar, or you may create and propose a project of your own. Scholars can apply for Fulbright grants at the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) website.

Instructions

Register for the online application form on the CIES website. The application form is divided into five sections: Award Information, Applicant Profile, Project Information, References and Applicant Data.

Provide award information. This includes the Country Program you are applying for, the particular award number for the grant you are seeking and category information for the grant.

  3. Step 3

Provide applicant profile information. This includes much of the same information in your curriculum vitae, as well as a statement highlighting your professional achievements. Note any previous Fulbright grants you have received and provide a summary of your proposed project when prompted.
