Instructions

    • 1

To become an agent for Kentucky Insurance, you will first need to obtain your insurance license. Contact a state approved pre-licensing provider to schedule the required 24 courses.

    • 2

Once you have completed the pre-licensing requirements, you will need to contact the Kentucky Department of Insurance to schedule the state insurance exam (see Resources).

    • 3

Once you have passed the state insurance exam, you must mail your license application to the state licensing division with a nonrefundable application fee. When your application is approved, you will receive your license in the mail--the process takes four to six weeks.

Visit the Kentucky Insurance career website (see References) to request a meeting with an agent recruiter in your area. Make sure to provide your insurance license number.

    • 5

Meet with the recruiter to discuss contract options and pay plan selection; be sure to bring your pre-licensing certificate of completion and your state insurance license.

Tips & Warnings

  • After taking your pre-licensing course, spend two to three weeks preparing for the state examination before you schedule it.
