How to Change the Voice on the Garmin Nuvi 200

The Garmin Nuvi 200 is a portable GPS navigation system designed for use in vehicles, pedestrian activites and bicycling. It has a wide variety of features including voice assisted navigation. Changing the settings to customize your Nuvi 200 is a quick process.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Garmin GPS unit
  • Computer with USB connections
  • USB cable with micro-USB plug
  1. Step 1

    Download the voice pack for the Nuvi at the Garmin website.

  2. Step 2

    Select and save the voice files you will use on the desktop.

  3. Step 3

    Connect one end of the USB cable to your Garmin and the other end to your computer and turn your GPS on.

  4. Step 4

    Click the "Start Menu" button and select "My Computer". Once the "My Computer" window is opened, select the drive for the Garmin device.

  5. Step 5

    Double-click the Garmin folder and then double-click the Voice folder.

  6. Step 6

    Extract the voice files from their compressed format (.zip or .rar) and save them to your desktop.

  7. Step 7

    Click and hold on each voice file you wish to transfer to your Garmin. Drag and drop those files to the Voice folder.

  8. Step 8

    Disconnect the USB connections from both the computer and the Garmin.

  9. Step 9

    Select the "Settings" button on your Nuvi screen and then select "Language" and then "Voice".

  10. Step 10

    Choose the voice you wish to use for your Garmin and select "OK". Your Nuvi 200 is now set to your desired voice.
