Things You'll Need:
- Vegetable shortening
-
Step 1
Anyone who has ever gotten pine tree sap on their skin knows that it can be really difficult to remove. Trying to wash it off with soap will have you scrubbing your skin until it hurts, and you can never totally remove all the sap. And steel wool or brillo is just a bad idea for your skin.
-
Step 2
Instead of washing with soap, take a few drops of vegetable shortening and rub it into the pine sap on your skin. You will instantly feel the stickiness of the sap going away. I use Crisco, but any brand of vegetable shortening will get the job done.
-
Step 3
Follow this with a normal hand washing, and all of the sap should be completely gone from your skin. No scrubbing. No irritation on your dermis.

on 8/22/2009 My daughter got pine pitch on her hands and removed it using salsa (must be the acid in the tomatoes).
