The internet has now made it easy to go online and find out if there are any registered sex offenders in your state and city. You could also scope out a potential new home and determine if you would feel safe there. Each state maintains its own registry, and it will be necessary to use each states' database when conducting your search.
Things You'll Need
Go to the FBI webpage at fbi.gov and access its list of state sex offender registry websites.
Click on the state whose database you would like to search.
Look for a search option on the state website. If you're looking for a specific offender, enter the name and the county that the registered sex offender lives in. Then click the search button.
Enter your city, county and zipcode and click search. The registered sex offender search will then return results for all of the sex offenders in the county and state that you have chosen.
Enter a specific address and radius to see all the sex offenders living within a given distance of a home.
