Things You'll Need:
- 1 toilet paper tube.
- scissors.
-
Step 1
Using a light pencil, draw a wavy line from the top edge of the toilet paper tube to about a finger width away from the bottom end of the toilet paper tube.
-
Step 2
Lightly mark off an even number of divisions around the top of the toilet paper tube. You can do this with math. Measure around the toilet paper tube, then divide by 12 to duplicate the one in the picture. If you're not too picky, you may be able to eye ball this, but it will come out neater measured. If you're working with kids this is a good time to point out how useful division can be.
-
Step 3
Cut along the wavy line. Stop before you get to the bottom of the tube.
-
Step 4
Start at the next mark over on top of the tube, and make another cut, always staying the same distance from the edge of the first cut. This can be a little tricky. Some people may find it easier to pencil on all the cuts in advance.
-
Step 5
Keep going to the next mark on the top of the tube until you've cut all the way around.
-
Step 6
Fold back the wavy flaps to make the rays of the sun.
