Start the process by following the link at the bottom of the page to a website known as grants.gov. Grants.gov is a webpage that is authorized by the U.S. government and based around helping citizens find and apply for federal grants. A large number of these grants are designated specially for minorities

Register with the website both as an individual and as an organization (if you are a part of one or hoping to found one). Registration can take 3-5 days so make sure to do this as soon as you get on grants.gov

Begin your search for a grant. There are many different categories that offer grants for minorities so search around and find the grant that best fits your needs and interests.

After you have found the grant that you would like to receive, you will need to apply for the grant. Download an application form and fill it out completely with honesty.

Once you have finished your application, you will need to mail it back to the U.S. government and wait for a reply. You can track the status of the grant online by using grant.gov's "Track My Application" tool.

You will be told whether you qualify for the grant or not within a few weeks. Remember that there are many other programs that specialize in helping get grants for minorities so feel free to search the web.
