Step 1
Food is only as good as the ingredients you use. Skip the frozen pre-formed burgers and buy fresh ground sirloin. Don't get any more than 90% lean, or your burger will be dry and have no flavor. For some recipes, the low fat stuff is fine, but in a burger the taste of the meat has to be good.
-
Step 2
Combine 1 pound of meat with one clove of chopped garlic, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, and a dash of Worcestershire sauce. Less ingredients is better. Shape into patties, but be careful not to overwork. To much handling will make the burgers tough. Grill the burgers.
-
Step 3
Slice a Spanish onion and place it in a piece of aluminum foil. Add a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil, some red pepper flakes, and some cayenne pepper. Place the foil packet on the grill.
-
Step 4
This is quite a bit of heat, but if you like even more, add slices of fresh jalapeno to the foil packet of onions, and grill. Top burgers with grilled onions and enjoy.
