Organize Financial Paperwork
Organize Financial Paperwork

When a person chooses to organize financial paperwork, he or she is on the right road to financial success. Keep track of everything. There truly is no way to know when it may be needed.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Buy a small filing cabinet. These can typically be found at business supply stores, thrift shops, or even at Wal-Mart.

  2. Step 2

Buy filing folders with tabs. You need the tabs in order to properly organize your files by name, and to be able to find them later.

  3. Step 3

Sort through your financial paperwork and organize it into categories. Keep categories for things such as tax paperwork, pay stubs, receipts, etc.

  4. Step 4

Label your folders according to the categories of paperwork you have chosen and separated into piles.

  5. Step 5

Place your stacks of paperwork into the corresponding folder.

  6. Step 6

Sort the filing folders into the filing cabinet in alphabetical order. Alphabetical order is important because it will allow the folders to be recovered quickly and easily when they are needed.

  7. Step 7

Place the filing cabinet somewhere out of the way where it will not be seen by guests. People have a natural curiosity about the financial status of others. Don't tempt fate.
