Get Federal Grants for Small Business

Are you looking to start a new small business but don't know where to find the money? Well you might qualify for a small business loan from the federal government in an amount up to $50,000 that you will never have to pay back. Here is how to get federal grants for small business.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Begin your search for a federal grant for small business by going to a government-run website known as grants.gov that helps everyday citizens apply and get approved for federal grants. You can go to this website by clicking the link at the bottom of the page that leads to grants.gov.

  2. Step 2

Register with grants.gov. Click on the "Get Registered" button on the left-hand side of the website and then register both yourself and your organization with grants.gov. Your registration can take up to 5 days to be approved so make sure you do this step first.

  3. Step 3

Search through the wide array of federal grants for small business on grants.gov and find a grant that fits your needs.

  4. Step 4

Once you have found a grant that fits your situation, you will need to apply for it. Download the application from the top of the page and then fill it out in great detail. This might take you a few days to complete.

  5. Step 5

Once you have finished filling out your application, you will need to mail it back to the U.S. government. After the application has been received, you can check its status at grants.gov by clicking on the "Track My Application" tab.

  6. Step 6

Wait for a response. You will either be approved or declined for the federal grant for small business. If you are not approved for the grant, go ahead and try to apply for a separate grant that will still fit your needs.

  7. Step 7

Remember that there are many other websites that will help you find and get approved for a federal grant, so keep your options open.
