Get HVAC Certification
Get HVAC Certification

Are you looking to become an HVAC technician and need to know how to finally become certified? Here is a quick guide on how to get HVAC certification and jump-start your career as an HVAC technician.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Begin the process by analyzing your situation and making sure that you are ready for the commitment that it takes to earn your HVAC certification. You will need to have a bit of extra money stowed away for your training courses and test fees and must have quite a bit of free time to complete your HVAC training and certification. Make sure that you are prepared to start your new career

  2. Step 2

Enroll in an HVAC training course. You can either enroll in the training course at a local technical school or community college or you can choose to do your HVAC training through an online course. Either way, you will need to complete this course and take a certification test at the end of the course to move to the next step

  3. Step 3

You will then need to enroll in an apprenticeship with a local HVAC technician. This allows you to learn the "tricks of the trade" and further your knowledge of the HVAC systems. You will usually need to serve in an apprenticeship for 6 to 24 months

  4. Step 4

You will then have to take your final HVAC certification test. This can also be done either in person or online. Make sure to put in many hours of study before the test to ensure that you pass.

  5. Step 5

Once you pass your final certification test, you can apply for a license from the state and start your new career as an HVAC technician.

  6. Step 6

    Enjoy!
