Getting income tax help is essential for taxpayers because the the tax code isn't exactly simple and paying the right amount is a matter of law. If you have a few questions about which form to use, or just some other questions regarding paying taxes, there are a few channels for help.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The IRS, unfortunately, is a great place to get free tax help. They can assist you with which papers to download, or any unresolved issues you have. You can visit the IRS tax payer help portion of their website and do a search.

  2. Step 2

Get on the phone with a government official from the IRS and ask them questions. Just keep your cool when they aren't too nice to you. Remember that they answer the same questions all day long.

  3. Step 3

Contact the Taxpayer advocate service, or TAS. The TAS is an independent organization that works with the IRS. They give taxpayers income tax help and have many workers who know what they are doing. You can get income tax help for people who have been hit hard economically, or need to resolve some issue with the IRS.

  4. Step 4

Talk to your CPA about your taxes. Getting help is best with a CPA, if you have one. They stay up on the thousands of changes to the tax code and have a personal reason to help you out with your income taxes.

Tips & Warnings
  • Get help early so if there are any problems with your income taxes, they can be fixed.
