When your washer stops filling with water or is filling slowly, you can perform some simple repairs to remedy this problem. Knowing how to troubleshoot an Amana washing machine can save you time and money.
Before performing any troubleshooting, disconnect the power to the Amana washing machine. Turn the water supply off as well.

Place a bucket under the water hose at the back of the washer. Disconnect the hoses from the Amana washing machine and set the ends in a bucket.
Inspect the water inlet ports on the washing machine. The screens can become clogged with sediment in the water. If necessary, clean the screens with a toothbrush to remove the sediment buildup.
Remove the top cover of the Amana washing machine. Insert a putty knife between the top and front of the washer and press in to release the locking tab. Lift up on the top until the opposite retaining tab is released. Raise the top until it rests on the hinge stops.
Use a screwdriver to remove the screws on the back panel of the washer that connect the water inlet valve to the washer. Reach inside the washer cabinet and lift out the water inlet valve.
Remove the connectors from the terminal by grasping the connectors and pulling them off. Set the volt-ohm meter to the RX1 setting and place each probe on each terminal of the valve. The valve should read some resistance. If it does not, you must replace it.
Check the pressure switch located inside the control console. To remove the console, take off all of the knobs from the face. Remove the three attaching screws on top of the control console and roll the console onto its face.
Remove the air hose and the wire connectors from the pressure switch. With the volt-ohm meter set to RX1, touch a probe to two of the three terminals. You should see a reading of infinity. If not, then you need to replace the pressure switch.
