Various Victorian lampshades used mica in the design of the lampshade. Mica is a combination of minerals that produces a marbled look. With the mica and metal lampshade frames, Victorian lamps were quite popular. Making these beautiful lampshades is a lot easier than they used to be.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tape measure
  • Metal lampshade with inserts
  • Decorative or bendable mica sheets, any color
  • Shears
  1. Step 1

Measure the areas of the lampshade where the mica will go. Purchase enough mica sheets for the total measurement of the lampshade areas.

  2. Step 2

Cut the decorative mica with the shears in the correct measurement.

  3. Step 3

Slide each sheet into the appropriate frame. There should be tabs in the back to fold the mica to hold in place.
