How to Paint a Mobile Home With Aluminum Siding
-
1
Put safety glasses on and clean the siding very well with the power washer. The siding should be free of all dirt and debris before you apply any primer or paint.
-
2
Make sure the aluminum siding is dry. Use a brush or roller to apply primer to siding and trim. You will likely need to use a brush for some harder-to-reach areas. It is usually best to climb the ladder and do the topmost areas of siding first, then work your way down.

3
Let the primer dry. Mix the exterior paint and pour some into a roller pan.
-
4
Coat the roller or brush well with the paint. Begin painting siding from the top down, in arms-length sections. Move the ladder, rather than over-reaching, to avoid falling.
-
5
Clean brushes and rollers while waiting for the first coat to dry. Paint won't go on smoothly if you use dirty brushes and rollers. When the paint is dry, which may take a few hours, paint the second coat. A third coat may or may not be necessary.
-
6
Paint all trim at the end, after the siding has dried. This way, if you drip paint on the siding, you can quickly wipe it off without messing it up.

Tips & Warnings
If you feel comfortable using one, this job will go significantly faster if you use a paint sprayer rather than rollers or brushes. Paint needs time to cure and form a strong bond with the surface. Look at the weather forecast before planning your paint day. Several days with moderate temperatures and diffused sunlight (but no rain) are ideal.
Always wear safety glasses, even during the power washing step. Power washing can knock debris off the siding and into your eyes. Make sure the ladder is set up on a sturdy surface and the legs are in the locked position before climbing.
