How to Make a Lamp Base
Flea markets, garage sales and attics are often home to a multitude of old figurines. Use an old figurine to make the base for a new lamp. All you need to do is learn the conversion techniques and find an appropriate shade that compliments the figurine. Consider selling your figuring lamps, or giving them as gifts. Slowly drill two holes the size of the metal rod. If the figurine is glass, use a diamond drill bit and keep the bit wet so the glass doesn't break. Clean around the hole to remove debris.

Insert the metal rod into the holes with the threads on the top. Thread the electrical cord through the metal from the bottom. Wire the cord onto the bulb housing according to manufacturer directions.

Screw the bulb kit to the threads on the metal rod. Attach the bulb, lamp shade frame and lampshade.
Tips & Warnings
Use any figurine, wine bottle or glass container.
