How to Clean the Side of an Enclosed Trailer

Trailers are quintessential utility vehicles. You can load them with tools, parts, cars or any other thing you can imagine. And enclosed trailers are even better because you can secure your load. But on the down side, sometimes cleaning them is a tall order.

Things You'll Need

  • Car washing soap
  • Cotton mop with long handle
  • Sponge-end mop with long handle

Instructions

    • 1

Spray the side of the trailer with the high pressure attachment on the hose. You want to loosen all of the dirt on the side and wash it away off as best as possible.

    • 2

Fill the bucket with water and soap. You want to create lots of bubbles, so use your thumb to increase the pressure on the hose if necessary.

    • 3

Dip the cotton mop into the bucket and start mopping the side of the truck, from the top down. Most dirt accumulates on the bottom of a vehicle, so if you work from the top down, you'll minimize scratching the paint and avoid smearing dirt and mud on less caked areas.

    • 4

Continue mopping down the trailer, frequently rinsing and cleaning the mop. You may have to throw out the dirty water and make new suds a few times, but continue until the trailer is clean.

    • 5

Rinse the suds off the trailer using the hose without any attachments. Using high pressure will only cause the suds to foam more, so you want to use low pressure for this step.

    • 6

Take a microfiber towel and wrap it around the end of the sponge mop. Then run the towel across the side of the trailer to dry it, moving top to bottom. Alternatively, you can air-dry the trailer, but for a streak-free shine, dry it with the towel and mop.
