Things You'll Need:
- Black Construction Paper
- Black Yarn
- Safety Scissors
- Tape
- School Glue
- Small Bowl
- Water
- Wax Paper
-
Step 1
Cut out the spider body. Using the safety scissors and the black construction paper, cut out the shape of a spider body.
-
Step 2
Cut eight black pieces of yarn. These eight lengths of yarn should be the same general size. Each of the pieces of yarn will be used as one leg for your Halloween craft.
-
Step 3
Glue the yarn to the body. Using just a spot of glue, attach the eight yarn legs to the body of the Halloween spider.
-
Step 4
Cut one longer piece of yarn. This longer piece of yarn will be used later in the Halloween craft to suspend the spider.
-
Step 5
Glue the longer piece of yarn to the Halloween spider. Using another touch of glue, attach the longer piece of yarn to the top of the spider body.
-
Step 6
Mix glue and water. In a small bowl, mix one part glue to one part water. Soak the legs of the spider in this mixture for two to three minutes.
-
Step 7
Rest on wax paper. After soaking the legs of the spider, spread out the legs on a piece of wax paper and rest the body flat on the surface.
-
Step 8
Allow to dry for 12 hours. The legs will need to dry for 12 hours before moving on to the final step of this Halloween craft.
-
Step 9
Tape the spider to a door knob. Using the longer piece of yarn, tape the spider to a door knob. The legs should hang slightly down. This will give the legs a natural curve with they are completely dry.
-
Step 10
Allow the Halloween craft to dry for 12 more hours. The glue will take an additional 12 hours to dry completely. This is when the legs will sag a little giving them that arch spiders are known for.
-
Step 11
Decorate the house. After the spiders are completely dry, hang them from various spots in the home. You can make larger spiders and smaller spiders to complete the Halloween decorations.
