Playing electric drums is fairly simple. You must, however, be familiar with how to properly use the brain module in order to produce the proper sounds when the drum pads are struck. You must also make sure your set is arranged properly.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Product guide
  • Drums and drumsticks
  • Allen wrench or screwdriver
  • Headphones or speaker cables
  1. Step 1

Secure your drum set assembly. Following the steps in your product guide, make sure the drums pads are securely attached to the drum rack and your rack is tightly assembled. If any collars are loose, tighten them with an Allen wrench or screwdriver (see Resources). Inspect all cords to ensure each pad is correctly connected to your brain module. Tightly connect your drum pedal to the bass drum bracket.

  2. Step 2

Set your sounds. Insert headphones or a speaker cable into the speaker jack on the brain module. Power up your drum set with the volume turned down. Choose a music track programmed into the brain. Slowly turn the volume up. While the music plays, adjust your equalizer or tone controls to properly mix high, mid-range and low frequencies. When you have created your desired tone, turn the music off and choose a programmed drum set sound.

  3. Step 3

Strike the drum pads. Begin by using your foot pedal, making sure the beater correctly strikes the drum pad. Using your drumsticks, do a few rolls, striking every pad and cymbal in the set. Adjust the volume to your liking.

  4. Step 4

Play along with the music loaded in your drum kit's brain. Most likely it is loaded with several music tracks without drum tracks and a click track. A good way to learn specific beats and time signatures is to listen to the track's bass lines and melodies and follow along, adding a percussion pocket and fills.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not play extremely high frequencies through headphones. This can permanently damage your hearing.
