How to Clean a Poland Spring Water Cooler

Save

A Poland Spring water cooler dispenser can provide easily accessible, great-tasting, high-quality water to your business or other establishment. However, in order to maintain the quality of your water, you will need to make sure to clean the dispenser itself every three to six months. While not a difficult or time-consuming process, cleaning the cooler dispenser is often overlooked.

Things You'll Need

  • Rubber gloves
  • Paper towels
  • Scrub brush
  • Boiling water
  • Scrub pad
  • Make sure the unit is unplugged before beginning. Remove the empty Poland Spring water bottle and baffle. Drain any remaining water through the spigot.

  • Boil enough water to fill the reservoir. Carefully pour the water into the reservoir and allow it to stand for about three minutes.

  • Protecting your hands with rubber gloves, use a scrub brush to thoroughly clean the reservoir and baffle. Then place the baffle in the reservoir upside down. Drain the water as before, through the spigot.

  • Pour additional boiling water into the reservoir and clean the body, handles and spigot with a scrub brush (make sure that you are still wearing your protective rubber gloves).

  • Again, drain the water used for cleaning through the spigot. Replace the rinsed and dried baffles and plastic top, and replace the empty water bottle with a full one.

  • Plug the cooler back in and allow it to heat and/or cool down for about 10 minutes before using it.

  • At least once a month, clean the drip tray that catches spills. The drip tray is easily removed, so take it out, clean it with soap and water and then replace it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Clean the cooler more often than less if at all possible. The entire process takes only minutes and will greatly improve the quality of your water. Remember that the moist environment is especially conducive to mold growth, particularly the spigot. You may want to invest in a small brush that is intended to clean small areas; baby bottle nipple brushes work well. A detailed brochure that outlines Poland Spring cooler cleaning suggestions is available from Poland Spring customer service.
  • Never handle boiling water without the protection of gloves. Never use steel wool or other abrasive cleaning tools on your Poland Spring cooler. Always make sure that the outlet that you use to power your cooler is grounded.
