How to Stop Mozy

Backing up data has become an essential thing for most PC users. Many software programs, both online and offline, seek to make this process easier. Mozy is a program that backs up files via a software program and then backs these files up on a remote server. While many are happy with Mozy, some do not like it because it can perform sluggishly at times.

Instructions

    • 1

Reboot your computer by going to "Start > Shutdown > Restart."

    • 2

Boot your computer into safe mode by pressing the "F8" key repeatedly at the first screen after restarting the PC. Select "Safe Mode" from the "Boot Options" menu. Booting into safe mode ensures that you'll be able to fully remove Mozy, so this is an essential step.

    • 3

Log-on as yourself in safe mode.

    • 4

Click the "Start" button in the lower left-hand corner of your screen. Then navigate to "Settings" and click "Control Panel".

    • 5

Double-click the "Add/Remove Programs" icon within the Control Panel.

    • 6

Select "MozyHome" from the programs within "Add/Remove Programs." Click the "Uninstall" button. Click "Yes" and then "Yes" again to complete the removal process and to restart your PC. Mozy has now been successfully removed from your PC.
