How to Compare Aptitude & IQ Testing
Standardized tests have been used for years in education, the work place and other institutions. These include the IQ test and the aptitude test. Similar in many respects, there are major distinctions between the two tests in terms of scope and content.

Compare "aptitude" and "IQ." Aptitude is a measure of one's talent within a specific area or subject. IQ is a measure of one's overall mental capabilities.

Compare the goal. The goal of an aptitude test is to predict one's competency in a certain field, such as a potential career. An IQ test's primary goal is to define one's intelligence according to a standard scale.

Compare content. Aptitude tests are subject oriented. IQ tests examine verbal comprehension, logic and reasoning, memory and speed.
