Instructions

    • 1

Launch Apple Pages '09 from the dock icon or by going to Applications > iWork '09 > Pages.

    • 2

Select "Newsletters" from the Template Chooser window.

    • 3

Scroll down until you see the "Family Newsletter" template.

    • 4

Select the "Family Newsletter" template by double-clicking it.

    • 5

Decide how many pages you want for your newsletter.

    • 6

Add a page by clicking on the "Pages" icon from the top menu.

    • 7

Select the template you want for the new page by selecting it from the "Pages" drop-down.

    • 8

For this newsletter, let's add three additional pages with the following templates: 1-Column Inside, Back Page and Mailer.

    • 9

Click on the first page in the list of pages on the left side of the window.

    • 10

Click wherever there is text and start replacing it with your own. Each text area will maintain the style, so you don't have to worry about that.

    • 11

Change a photograph by selecting the existing picture and clicking "Media" from the top menu.

    • 12

Find your photo in the Media window. Make sure you have imported the photos you want to use into iPhoto.

    • 13

Drag that photo on top of the existing image. It will insert your photograph and keep the style of the original. You can do this wherever there is an image.

    • 14

Go through the rest of the pages and replace text and images as you see fit.

    • 15

Change the information on the last page, which will be the "Mailer" page. This is where you add in your return address and either leave a space for the mailing address or type in for each person receiving this newsletter. Make sure when you collate your newsletter that this is the very last page facing out, so when you fold it in half the address is facing out.

    • 16

Print out your newsletter, collate, address, stamp and send it off! Now isn't that better than a boring old card?
