Get a Scholarship for Your Children to Attend Catholic School

Getting the best education for your children can be tough when you don't have the money for it and you live in the not so best of neighborhoods. My little girl use to be in a public school. Now I am not in any way badgering public schools but when you don't live in a good area, you don't get to pick a good public school. You have to go according to your zone school meaning whatever district you are currently located at, that is where your children must attend school.
One day I went to visit my daughter at school to see how she was doing. I saw her sad, very quiet, the teacher didn't seem to pay much attention to her. It was more than 40 kids in a kindergarten class and the teacher suggested that she'd be placed on a special education curriculum because she was not speaking. My daughter is quite the parrot at home. I was in shock. This is not all. I went to pick her up at 3pm on another day when I saw three girls about 9 or 10 years old ready to slash a much younger girl with a box cutter!!! Where was the security guard? I quickly yelled for help and ran across the street to dial 911. No way!!! I got in contact with the Children's Scholarship Fund because another parent told me. They sent me an application and in at least 2 weeks time. I got accepted and now my daughter is a straight A student, has lots of friends, and she speaks!!! I know that some children might not feel comfortable in a Catholic school setting but it changed my daughter. She loves her school.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Go to Children's Scholarship Fund website and apply.
  • Visit different schools.
  • Patience. (you will know when you are in the right place).
  • Be low income or moderately low.
  1. Step 1

The first thing you must do is visit the children's scholarship fund on the internet. Scholarships are currently available in these states: Arkansas,California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and Utah. If by any chance scholarships are not being accepted on a given time. Please contact your area's office and get on the waiting list. It doesn't take years for scholarships to become available. Sometimes it just happens at the right time when you need it the most.

  2. Step 2

I live in NYC. I recommend the Children's Scholarship Fund of NYC. It takes you directly to a list of schools in which you can start visiting and get the feel for the school. At this website you can request an application to be sent to you or get it directly from the school listed but I strongly suggest you do this only if you know that you want your child to attend that particular school. My girls attend Mount Carmel Holy Rosary. It has an arts program, they teach violin and ballroom dancing. They have a boys and girls basketball team. Strong academics, great teachers and the nicest principle you can ever meet.

  3. Step 3

This scholarship doesn't cover full tuition but it helps greatly. I pay 80 dollars a month compared to 300 to 500 dollars a month if I didn't have the scholarship. I am low income. My scholarship covers 75% of tuition. Depending on your income you could receive 50% tuition to 25% tuition. Regardless, it is better than nothing at all. I am thankful for this program and hope this helps parents out there who need help for their children. Your children don't need to be super smart. The school educates them to be smart not only academically but bring forth a wonderful and productive human being. Again a Catholic education may not be of preference for every child, he or she may not feel comfortable or it may not be their type of environment according to how old they are but at least if you can start them here, you will see the difference.

Tips & Warnings
  • Information provided here may have changed because of our economy but it doesn't hurt to try and get on that waiting list.
  • Even if you are not low-income, ask if you still can qualify for some help with tuition cost.
  • Don't go by the age requirements. Ask the school of your choice if they can help to get your children enrolled.
