Many colleges and universities are now requiring interviews for admissions or scholarships. Interviews are a great opportunity for you to shine and gain admission. Here are some tips to make you shine.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Dress for the occasion. Wear comfortable, but dressy shoes because you'll be walking around campus. Dress up in a conservative, business casual outfit. Cleavage, chest hair, and short skirts are generally a bad idea. Dress pants or a pencil skirt with a cute blouse or button down shirt are much better choices.

  2. Step 2

Know the school. One of the guaranteed questions is "why do you want to go here". Have an answer prepared that shows that you have researched the school. If you are into sports, talk to the coach and captain to figure out how you will fit into the team. Emailing future professors can also give you great insight.

  3. Step 3

Know your self. The other big question that tends to appear is "tell me about yourself". Come up with 2-4 sentences that really explain who you are and what you want to do.

  4. Step 4

Ask questions. Come up with 3-4 questions to ask the interviewer. Some of the best questions are why did you come to __? Do you feel that this school is a great fit for someone who __?

  5. Step 5

Send a quick thank you note when you are done. A short note helps them remember you when it comes time to make admissions decisions.
