Step 1
Don’t drive more than five miles per hour over the speed limit. Since a large number of drivers drive five, ten or even fifteen miles per hour over the speed limit, you may feel like you need to speed simply to keep up with traffic. Police officers will rarely pull you over for going a few miles per hour over the speed limit, especially if there are other cars around you going faster.
-
Step 2
Drive in the right lane. Traffic cops looking to pull people over on multi-lane highways are usually in areas between the two roads, so that they can pull out into the fast lane quickly. When you drive in the right lane, you are indicating that you are driving slower, and not passing other cars, so they will be less likely to use their speed gun on you as you pass by.
-
Step 3
Drive an inconspicuous vehicle. Attention drawing vehicles such as fancy sports cars and motorcycles make you more likely to be seen by police officers and more likely to be pulled over.
-
Step 4
Be courteous and don’t make excuses if you do get pulled over. If a cop pulls you over for speeding, there is a good chance that the actions you take and what you say will determine whether you get a ticket or not. Be polite and don’t talk too much. Don’t admit to knowing that you were going too fast, even if you were speeding.
