Instructions

    • 1

Determine the type of candy to be used for your custom candy favor wrapper. Choosing a flat candy bar, such as a chocolate bar, is the easiest to cover with a paper wrapper. However, other types can be wrapped successfully as well.

    • 2

Measure the length and width of the candy to determine the size of the work space. For example; if the candy is 5 inches wide by 3 inches tall, the margins of your work area should be the same. Double and add 3/4-inch to the height of the wrapper when trimming, to allow the wrapper to completely cover the candy. For example; when cutting the wrapper, the dimensions are 5 inches by 6 3/4 inches.

    • 3

Create a candy wrapper template. Use a computer design program, such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, or even Microsoft Word to create the template. Open a new file in the program of your choice and create the dimensions of the page. Using the same example, the dimensions of the work area or page, depending on the software chosen, is 5-by-3 inches.

    • 4

Insert a photo, clip art or other image into the document. For example; if creating a candy wrapper for a wedding, use a photo of the couple. Put the image in a location that leaves room for text, such as the left side, leaving the right side available. If working in Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, use the "Place" option on the "File" menu, or the "Insert" option if working in Microsoft Word.

    • 5

Insert a text box next to the image. If working in either Adobe product, click on the "T" tool in the toolbar, located on the left of the screen, or click the "Insert" tab, then choose "Text Box" in Microsoft Word. Place the text box in the area the message should be located.

    • 6

Type your custom message in the text box. Choose simple phrasing such as "Congratulations Bob and Sue!" or "Happy Birthday Tommy!" for easy reading and clean design. Add other information such as the date of the wedding, the age of the birthday guest of honor, or other personal messages as desired. The size, color and font used for the text can all be modified to match as needed.

    • 7

Print the document. Trim the custom candy wrapper using the paper cutter, leaving enough extra on the sides to allow for taping.

Tips & Warnings

  • Custom candy wrapper templates can be downloaded on the Internet as well. These templates remove the guesswork and can be easily personalized.

  • Reducing the width of the template by 1/2-inch allows the foil-wrapped candy to show on each end of your custom wrapper.

  • Print a test sheet on plain paper first, if using high quality paper for the wrappers.

  • Arrange multiple wrappers on a single page to reduce the amount of paper required.

  • For large candy, set the page orientation to "landscape" for a larger work area.

  • Using thicker paper, such as card stock, may make wrapping slightly angular candy easier.

  • Print one set of wrappers on your home computer, then make color copies to save money.
