Things You'll Need:
- Pan
- Stove
- Water
- Macaroni
- Cheese
- Spoon
- Serving plate
- Forks
-
Step 1
Select a big enough pan to hold the number of servings you want to cook.
-
Step 2
Put water in the pan.
-
Step 3
Place the pan on the stove and turn the heat on high.
-
Step 4
I like to spray the water with non-stick vegetable cooking spray at this point. This helps prevent the noodles from sticking together.
-
Step 5
Wait until the water comes to a rapid boil.Allow the water to come to a rolling boil.
-
Step 6
Add the pastaPour the macaroni into the pan, I never measure but I just dump some in until it looks like I have the desired amount on the pan. Keep in mind that the pasta will expand as they cook so you will end up with a greater amount than you pour in.
-
Step 7
Stir enough to keep the pasta free.Stir the noodles enough to keep them from sticking. This doesn't have to be constant stirring but if you stir too infrequently they will stick.
-
Step 8
These are done.Allow the macaroni noodles to cook until they expand 2 to 3 times their original size and they are no longer chewy.
-
Step 9
YummyTurn the stove off.
-
Step 10
DrainPour the noodles into a strainer to remove the water. I have just used the hold-the-lid-on and dump method but sometimes the results are disastrous with most of the noodles ending up in the sink!
-
Step 11
Put the noodles back in the pan.
-
Step 12
Drizzle in the cheese.Dump in some cheese and stir. Again I don't measure but I like to use the dump and stir method until the macaroni looks cheesy enough. I am using mild shredded cheddar in the picture which results in the cheese being rather lumpy. If you use processed American cheese, such as Velveeta, the results are much smoother.
-
Step 13
Sprinkle and stirOnce it is cheesy enough, stir some more.
-
Step 14
All melted and gooeyKeep stirring until it is all melted and mixed.
-
Step 15
Put on a plate and serve. The shredded cheddar makes it kind of lumpy and stringyTransfer to a plate and serve.
