Things You'll Need:
- comfortable shoes
- music to walk by
-
Step 1
Find a good starting place to start your walk. The kitchen might be best as it would allow you to sit and rest as the end of your daily walk around the house. Monitor your heart rate prior to starting to walk inside your home. Count the heart rate before walking to reach a normal walking heart rate.
-
Step 2
Make sure that there is nothing in your way or in your path so you do not have to stop and push it away as you are walking. Put on comfortable walking shoes and walk through room to room reaching the furthest points in your home and then turn around and walk back.
-
Step 3
Start your walk slowly if you have not been active for a while. Start walking and counting how many full house walk you have taken. Every
time you reach your starting point count another number and continue your walk. -
Step 4
Begin walking at a slow pace by walking around the home five times. If you find yourself out of breath stop and relax. There is always tomorrow. Do not push yourself to walk around the house this is not a race. Walking can be as comfortable as you want, as slow as you need or as fast or as long as you can walk.

on 10/24/2009 This is a great idea and a well written article. Unfortunately it wouldn't work for me... my dog would be so confused, he would chase me and throw his toys at me the whole time. haha
