Be a Successful Real Estate Agent
Be a Successful Real Estate Agent

Every real estate agent wants to be successful at their chosen career. Unfortunately, not every agent knows the steps to take to achieve success within the industry.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Keep your word with your clients. If you say you are going to show up, do. If you say you are going to call, call. Instilling trust in your clients is vital in order to keep them.

  2. Step 2

Put on your work face, even when you are exasperated. A real estate agent should never let a client see that you are frustrated with them. Demonstrating your displeasure is a quick way to lose your client base.

  3. Step 3

Develop good communication with your clients. Call and email regularly with updates, new homes, suggestions, etc. The purpose is simply to stay in touch and to show your clients that you still have their home and their needs on the brain. They'll appreciate that.

  4. Step 4

Do extra research. Work harder to learn price averages in different areas depending on square foot, school district, etc. Provide your clients with this information. The more knowledge you have the better, and the more knowledge they have, the more they will appreciate you.

  5. Step 5

Give clients your undivided attention. Many real estate agents think it is perfectly okay to answer their phones while showing a home. It's not. That's what you have voice mail for. This is a simple matter of showing respect for the client you are with.

  6. Step 6

Direct your clients to honest lenders. If they ask your advice, they are genuinely clueless and may be easily taken advantage of. Don't send them to the first place that crosses your mind. If they get cheated, they will blame the lender AND the real estate agent. Tell them to shop around for the best rates.

  7. Step 7

Give your clients pointers on getting their house ready to sell. If your clients are selling yet they never cut the grass, their bathrooms are all hot pink, and there is clutter everywhere, the house isn't going to sell. It is your responsibility as their real estate agent to suggest the changes they should make to give the house more marketability.
