Things You'll Need:
- An open mind
- Patience
- Respect for your child's spirit
- A connection with your own inner child and intuition is very helpful!
-
Step 1
BELIEVE IN YOUR CHILD. Your child's soul is not new to this world. No matter how old they are, kids are filled with spiritual wisdom. This wisdom can be accessed and shared through their intuition. So if your child tells you they saw a spirit, recall a past life memory, have a weird feeling, or see an event in the future, don't discount their feelings as imagination. Really listen, and take them seriously. Encourage them to trust, explore and learn to understand their intuitive feelings.
-
Step 2
MEDITATE WITH YOUR CHILD. Meditation is not only great for the immune system and to release stress that kids feel, it also strengthens their intuitive connection. There are many meditation opportunities just for kids these days. You can play a meditation CD or video for kids, read a meditation from a book, guide them with a fun and relaxing visualization, attend a parent/child meditation class, or a kid's yoga class.
-
Step 3
ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILD TO JOURNAL. Your child may not always feel comfortable sharing their intuitive feelings with you. They may need time to feel comfortable with the idea of talking openly about things. Let them know that their journal is their private property to write down whatever they're feeling, no matter how weird or scary some intuitive feelings may seem. Promise them that you will honor their journal as private, and that they are welcome to share with you whatever they would like. You can create a regular "sharing time" when you encourage your child to share what they wrote in their journal that day, and you can join them by sharing your own experiences with your intuition. This will strengthen your spiritual bond.
-
Step 4
CALM THEIR FEARS. If you have fears about spirits, or psychic ability, it's a good idea to consult an expert in the field, or read some books, so you can have a better understanding of what your child may be experiencing. The more you understand, the less fear you will feel. Calm your child's fears by letting him or her know that it's safe to trust what they feel, that their feelings are valid, even if they can't be understood at the time. Let them know that they are always safe, and nothing can hurt them. Introduce your child to the angels with books or angel cards, and let them know that their angels are always there for them. If they can use support, take them to a spiritual support/development class for kids. I teach one specifically for sensitive kids to help them feel comfortable with themselves, learn how to heal and protect themselves, and help them develop and strengthen their abilities.
-
Step 5
LET YOUR CHILD KNOW YOU WILL ALWAYS ACCEPT THEM. There are times in life when your child may feel they don't fit in, or that their intuition somehow was wrong, or let them down. Let your child know that you will always accept them, no matter what, and that they are very special with a very special gift, which is a direct connection to God, where they came from. Tell your child it's normal to be intuitive, and give them examples of famous people, or people they know, who have used their intuition, or "gut feelings" to follow their dreams. If they ever doubt their intuition, encourage them to keep trusting their feelings, no matter what, because sometimes situations change, and that's out of their control.
