Teddy Bear pajama bags are as useful as they are cute. Most pajama bags cost a pretty penny, unless you make it yourself. But making your own is time consuming. Save yourself a lot of work - start with a completed teddy bear. I bought mine from the Salvation Army for $2.00, spent a couple more dollars at Walmart for supplies, and a half hour after arriving home, I had a cute Teddy Bear pajama bag completed! These make nice (and cheap) Christmas presents for young children and are great to give to a mom-to-be.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • teddy bear (mine is 16")
  • ribbon for teddy bear's neck (unless your bear already ribbon around neck)
  • Velcro (self-sticking)
  • hot glue and glue gun (to ensure the Velcro will stay put)
  • sharp scissors
  • heavy duty thread
  • sewing needle with large eye opening
  1. Step 1

before he became a pajama bag

Cut an opening along the back seam of the teddy bear, beginning 2- inches below head and ending just above where he "sits."

  2. Step 2

Remove all of the stuffing from the bear's arms, legs and body. Don't remove the stuffing from his head - you want his face to be full and cute when no pajamas are inside.

  3. Step 3

Using a needle and thread, sew closed the opening at his neck (about an inch below the stuffing in his neck).

  4. Step 4

Measure the length of the open seam down the teddy bear's back, and cut a strip of Velcro 1/2 inch smaller than that seam. Peel the paper backing from one side of the self-adhesive Velcro strip. Apply small "dots" of hot glue at about 1- inch intervals on the sticky side of the Velcro. Press the Velcro with your fingers along the length of one side of the opening. Do the same for the other side of the opening with the other Velcro side -- BE SURE the two sides work together before attaching!

  5. Step 5

Tie a ribbon around his neck and your Teddy Bear pajama bag is ready for hanging on a bedroom door!
