How to Make a Turkey Meatloaf (7 Weight Watchers Points Per Serving)

How to Make a Turkey Meatloaf (7 Weight Watchers Points Per Serving)thumbnail
Using turkey in your meatloaf can cut down on the fat content.

Even if you’re not currently following a Weight Watchers diet plan, the dishes you can create that use the plan’s points system generally are healthy and tasty. This is a very basic turkey meatloaf recipe for just 7 points per serving. Because this is a basic recipe, you can customize it to your own taste by adjusting the seasonings in the recipe or by using seasoned bread crumbs. Use ground turkey breast that is around 94 percent lean because using extremely lean turkey will give you a very dry meatloaf. While ground turkey that is not 100 percent breast meat is generally less expensive than ground turkey breast, you will find much less fat in the ground turkey breast.

    Things You'll Need

    • 1 1/4 lb. ground turkey breast
    • 1 small onion, finely chopped
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1/4 strip green pepper, chopped
    • 1/4 cup unseasoned bread crumbs
    • 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
    • 1 egg, lightly beaten
    • 1/4 cup low-fat shredded cheddar cheese
    • 1/2 tsp. salt
    • 1/4 tsp. pepper
    • 1 tsp. parsley
    • 1/2 cup ketchup
    • Skillet
    • 1 tbsp. olive oil
    • Baking dish
    • Nonstick cooking spray
      • 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.

      • 2

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add onions, bell pepper and garlic. Saute until the onions are slightly soft. Remove from heat.

      • 3

Combine the onion mixture and all remaining ingredients except the ketchup and mix together. Mix until ingredients are just combined.

      • 4

Place the uncooked meat mixture into the baking pan. Shape into a loaf and then spread ketchup over top. Bake at 350 degrees until internal temperature reaches 165 degrees, or about a half hour. Spread additional ketchup on the top after a half hour and bake for an additional five minutes. Remove from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes. Makes enough for two slices for five people, at 7 points per two-slice serving.
