A client consultation is extremely important in the beauty industry. After gathering all the information needed to make proper design decisions with your clients, it is important to communicate your recommendations.

  1. Step 1

    Welcome your client with a handshake making eye contact. You should break the ice by finding out the client's name as you start to build a rapport with your client, you will soon get first clues on personality.

  2. Step 2

    Ask your client about his/her own styles including clothing, hair, likes and dislikes. You should analyze her height, face shape, hair, natural color scheme and personality.

  3. Step 3

    Once you have determined your clients needs, you will be able to create the design options. Knowing the history of her hair and previous experiences can determine her service options.

  4. Step 4

    Summarize the design decisions and explain the services, cost of upkeep and home care for the style. Gain clients feedback on suggestions and ensure that you're on the same page and have a true understanding about the style change.

  5. Step 5

    Always ensure clients comfort during the service by explaining steps and actions that are taking place. Always commit to delivering the highest quality of service.

  6. Step 6

    After service is complete, offer a re-book visit to your client and recommend retail products to your client that best fits her style and needs.

  7. Step 7

    Ensure client is satisfied and understands how to keep up the style, enforce client/stylist relationship and encourage referrals from other customers. Give thanks and say goodbye.
