Things You'll Need:
- Computer
-
Step 1
Educate yourself on the five C's of a diamond. Diamonds prices are influenced by their cut, carat, colour, clarity, and certificate. This is important as you don't want to over pay for a diamond for the wrong reasons. A diamonds price goes far beyond size.
-
Step 2
Search the online classifieds such as craigslist or even ebay. The economy is tough and a lot of people are selling quality diamonds for cheap. Sometimes you can get great deals on quality diamonds. However if it's not certified you might want to have a jeweler take a look at it before you buy it.
-
Step 3
Check out all of your local pawn shops. People unload jewelry there because they are looking for some fast cash. Most pawn shops buy diamond rings for really cheap. They might try to rip you off but if you know what it's worth, you can haggle with them and possible get it for just above what they paid for it.
-
Step 4
Avoid online jewelers and retail jewelry stores. Most diamonds are marked up incredibly high and you will never get a good deal. Stick to second hand rings if you really want to save money and get a great deal. After all, quality diamonds last forever and are very difficult to scratch.
