A career as a Las Vegas showgirl can be challenging and rewarding. It may seem like an easy career path, but there are many obstacles to overcome in order to become a Vegas showgirl. It isn't as simple as walking into Ballys or Caesar's Palace and asking for a job. However, there are a few things that you can do to improve your chances of getting your career as a Las Vegas showgirl started.

1. Take dance lessons.

   If you want to be a showgirl you have to know how to dance! It is best to learn many different styles and techniques, because you may be required to perform all sorts of dances as a showgirl.

2. Get in shape.

   Dancing is a very physically demanding career. You will need a lot of stamina and endurance to succeed. Above and beyond your dance practice you will also need some weight training and aerobic exercise. You do not need to build muscle mass, but need strength and toning. This will require a high repetition with low weights. This will make you stronger without bulking up. It is important to target the legs, stomach and back muscles. These are the muscles that help a dancer move.

3. Eat a balanced diet.

   It is important for a Las Vegas showgirl to be fit and in shape. Often time dancers are required to be lifted or tossed in the air during their routines, so being thin is important. Many Vegas showgirls are required to be weighed every week and weight gain could get you fired. Dancing in Vegas is a very competitive field and you must always look your best.

4. Practice.

   You should try and get some experience before you go to Vegas. Try getting a job as a dance instructor at a local school or join a local theater group. You can gain experience and practice at the same time.

5. Prepare a resume.

   Just like any other job search process, you should start by creating a resume. The resume should include your experience and details on each style of dance that you are familiar with.

6. Go to an audition.

   If you have followed the first 5 steps you are bound to get at least one audition. You may not get hired right away, but keep working at it. The larger casinos and bigger shows will tend to hire more experienced dancers, so you may have more luck at smaller casinos and locations off of the strip.
