Things You'll Need:
- 2-3 scoops of root beer flavored ice cream
- 1 - 12oz can of root beer
- 16 oz mug
- whipped cream (optional)
-
Step 1
Put your mug in the freezer for at least one hour. Once your mug is truly frosty, gather your ingredients for construction.
-
Step 2
Scoop 2-3 scoops of root beer flavored ice cream (my favorite is Dreyer's brand Root Beer Float flavor) into your frosty mug. Make sure the there is room in the mug for the soda.
-
Step 3
Very slowly poor the root beer into the mug, until you've filled it about 3/4 of the way full. Allow some time for the froth to settle before adding more root beer. My favorite root beer is Mug or Barq's - both are not TOO sweet and provide a nice bite to the sweetness of the ice cream.
-
Step 4
Once you have your preferred balance of ice cream and soda, you can top with whipped cream as desired. The outer part of the ice cream will be "crusty", adding a fun crisp edge to the beverage.
-
Step 5
Enjoy with a long, slim spoon and straw!
