Learn to speed read and cut your reading time dramatically. This is a great skill for any student to have. With volumes of books to study and research to be completed if one will learn to speed read this will in turn cut down time and produce better quality work.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Check your beginning speed. When you learn to speed read you will want to check how fast you are currently reading. Set a timer for 1 minute and complete as much as you can within that minute. When you are finished count the words and write down the results.

  2. Step 2

    Skim the page. When you learn to speed read you will want to learn a technique often referred to as pre-reading. This is done by simply skimming the page to discover the basic concept.

  3. Step 3

    Use your fingers when you learn to speed read. This will help you keep your place plus will motivate you to go faster.

  4. Step 4

    Concentrate on the verbs and nouns of your document. The verbs and nouns are the most important part of reading comprehension and you will not need to read every single word. As you pick up pace when you learn to speed read this will become easier and easier.

  5. Step 5

    Time yourself on a daily basis. If you want to learn to speed read keep in mind this does not happen overnight. This is a process that will take a little time. After all you are retraining yourself to comprehend in a different manner and practice is critical.
