Step 1
The first thing you need to remember is that when you consume anything, it might have calories. These calories add up over a period of a day. Your body will burn these calories doing normal day to day stuff like walking, making dinner and cleaning the house.
-
Step 2
When you gain weight it is because you have consumed more calories than you were able to burn off in any given day. There is nothing too complicated about weight gain or weight loss. It is simply realizing that your body requires a balance of calorie intake and calories burned.
-
Step 3
To achieve healthy weight loss you need to understand what your calorie requirements are to maintain a balance in your body. If you need 2,000 calories to maintain your weight, start out by formulating a diet that will meet that number.
-
Step 4
Once you determine your bodies needed calorie requirement you can do one of two things to lose weight. Lower the amount of calories you consume slightly which will result in a healthy weight loss or increase the number of calories you burn each day.
-
Step 5
If you lower the amount of calories you consume only make slight adjustments. Do not starve yourself or drop off more than a few hundred calories at most. Losing weight is a slow and steady way to a healthy lifestyle. There is no overnight way to lose weight in a healthy weight loss fashion.
-
Step 6
If you decide to exercise more ramp up slowly starting out by walking short distances and stretching. Work up to jogging and running and be sure to maintain your calorie limit.
