Things You'll Need:
- new spark plugs
- spark plug socket
- wrench
-
Step 1
Locating the spark plugs can be as simple as looking at the distributor cap and following the wires from it to the plugs. The distributor cap is round and usually black, it has wires plugged directly onto the top. These go from the cap to the spark plugs and is usually located near the front of the motor or side.
-
Step 2
After locating the plugs, remember to only remove one wire at a time. Otherwise, you risk mixing the wires up and getting them out of order.
-
Step 3
Once you remove one plug wire, you can see the top of the spark plug. Using the spark plug socket (used because it has a padding on the inside to not damage the new plug as it is replaced) and wrench, remove the spark plug.
-
Step 4
Once you have it removed, replacing the old one with a new one is just as simple. Using the socket and wrench replace it. Do not tighten to tight, it must not be loose, but forcing it tight can cause damage.
-
Step 5
Follow the above steps to replace the remaining spark plugs.
