The new school year is here but you have little or no money to buy supplies, this how to will explain some ways to get help for school supplies.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • telephone or cell phone
  • time to make calls
  • a drive to get help
  1. Step 1

Ask friends and family if they have any items that you might need for your child's supplies. Someone might have a glue stick or some pencils so start gathering and asking to see what you can collect that way first.

  2. Step 2

Call churches and your local Salvation Army to sign up for the tools for schools program. There can be income guidelines but still call or go into the agency to apply so you can be on the list to get some supplies that way.

  3. Step 3

Determine what you have at this point and call the school where your child will be attending and tell them that you need help with supplies. Some schools have grants and or funds that they might be able to assist you with in order to get everything your child needs for school.

  4. Step 4

After everything is collected you should have everything your child or children need in terms of school supplies. Thank everyone that helped you and appreciate getting help.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always be nice to everyone you talk to, asking for help can be humbling but if you need it ask for it.
  • Send thank you cards if at all possible and give back to others if your situation becomes better.
