Jogging is one of the greatest way to loose weight and keep in shape. However, too many women are getting abducted, raped, and assaulted when jogging. The goal of this article is to give women ideas in preventing attacks and defending themselves while jogging.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • pepper spray
  • cellphone
  • keys
  • modest clothing
  1. Step 1

Tell somebody what route you will be taking to jog. If something happens, this will give the police a good start - and time is always a huge factor in finding missing persons. If there is no one to tell where you are going, write it down on a piece of paper and put it in a place where people could easily see it.

  2. Step 2

Go to www.familysafetyguardian.com and type in where you live and where you want to jog. This shows you where registered sex offenders live. It includes their photos.

  3. Step 3

Jog at places where there are a lot of people. Nature and park trails that are surrounded by trees and brushes without much people may be peaceful, but it is more dangerous because it is secluded.

  4. Step 4

Jog with a group of people. At least with one other person if you can.

  5. Step 5

I know it gets hot when you jog - but wear modest clothes. Avoid wearing only sport bras and short shorts.

  6. Step 6
You can buy pepper spray online

If pepper spray is legal to buy in your state, by all means, buy one and carry it in one hand as you jog. If it is not legal, make your own pepper spray.

  7. Step 7
DO NOT use a cellphone while jogging. Carry one just incase something happens and you get hurt.

Carry a cellphone ( do not use it as you jog). This will not help much during an attack, but it might help if you have been attacked and the attacker left.

  8. Step 8

As stated above, DO NOT use your cellphone, listen to your ipod, mp3 player, c.d., walkman, etc. as you jog. ALWAYS BE ALERT of your surrounding. Not only does it help with keeping you safe from traffic, it also keeps you alert to suspicious persons or activities around or in front of you so you could avoid them.

  9. Step 9

I really suggest just jogging at the gym.

  10. Step 10

If you choose this route, make sure that you pick out your car keys BEFORE you leave the gym. I suggest putting the car keys between your pointer finger and your middle finger, putting one key between your middle finger and your ring finger, and another one between your ring finger and pinky. At the end it should look like Wolverine's ( from X-Men)hand. This way if you have to fight, punch with this hand ( your dominant hand with all the keys sticking out)you will do more damage than hitting the assailant with a close fist.

  11. Step 11

Take a course in self-defense. Though know that what you learned may not be a second nature to you if something happens unless you train yourself. Resort to biting, kicking in the groin, and poking the assailant's eyes out.

  12. Step 12

I hope this gives you some idea in keeping yourself safe as you jog!
