Make A Fleecy, Fringed Blanket, A Comfortable Blanket to Use

A blanket made of fleece which can be fringed is not only a blanket of comfort, it is also a blanket that is easy to make, whether it is a baby blanket, or and adult-sized blanket.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fleeced fabric
  • Sharp cutting scissors
  1. Step 1

Select a fleece fabric from your favorite store to make into a blanket. When selecting the fabric, keep in mind the pattern and color that the recipient would like best. Be alert to sales on fleece and if you are making several blankets, stock up at that time. Have discovered that all the fleece materials seem to hold up well, so if you wish, you could skip the non-pill fabric.

  2. Step 2

One and one/fourth yards of fabric is a workable amount of yardage for a baby blanket. If you are making a “binkie,” have associate cut another fourth of a yard in matching fabric. You only need a small square for the child to carry around for comfort. For adults, 2 yards is an ample measurement.

  3. Step 3

Lay the material out on a large, flat working surface. A dining room table is suitable.
With a pair of sharpened cutting scissors, cut fringes all around the outside of the 4 sides of material. You will be going back and tying 2 of the fringes together. The fringes should be ¾” to 1” apart and approximately 1 ½” to 2” for the vertical cut which makes the fringe that you will tie. It is not necessary to have to be so accurate as to have to measure each one. You may wish to measure the first 4 or 5 to get a feel for the measurements. The cuts for the fringes need to be long enough to be able to tie them. If some are too short, just go back and make them longer.

  4. Step 4

Cut the fringes on all 4 sides of the blanket. When you are finished cutting, go back and tie 2 strips together. If you reach the end of a side and have only one fringe left, cut it in half and tie together. Your blanket is now complete and ready to use.
