Step 1
Use an extra floor tile. Fold loosely in half with the good side out.
-
Step 2
Scrape the surface of the extra floor tile to get fine shavings. Keep scraping the surface until your have enough to make a patch. The shavings should be small, thin and almost powdery. Use a utility knife to scrape for shavings.
-
Step 3
Place your shavings on a piece of wax paper in a small pile. Slowly add clear nail polish. Mix the clear nail polish into the shavings. Stir together until you have the consistency of putty.
-
Step 4
Place masking tape as close to the hole in your vinyl floor tile as possible, framing all sides. Use a putty knife or spackle knife to spread the mixture of nail polish and shavings into the hole. Press down while spreading make sure you fill the hole.
-
Step 5
Allow the patch to dry completely. At least an hour, remove the masking tape and lightly sand with fine steel wool to smooth the surface of the patch.
-
Step 6
Apply a coat of floor polish or clear nail polish to give the patch a shiny finish.
