Learn how to quickly and easily disable programs that automatically load when windows Vista starts.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Windows Vista
  • 5 Minutes
  1. Step 1
    Startup Menu
     
    Startup Menu

    To start first open up the control panel by clicking on the start button then on control panel.

  2. Step 2

    Next, type in the word "Startup" into the search box located in the top right hand side of the control panel window.

    Note: please make sure that the view is not set to "Classic View" or else this will not work. If "Classic View" is selected simply click on "Control Panel Home" to change back to the Vista default and then type "Startup" in the search box.

  3. Step 3
     

    You should see Windows Defender pop up near the top. Right below the icon there is a string of blue text that reads "Stop a program from running" Click on it.

  4. Step 4

    The following pop up shows a list of programs set to run at startup. Simply highlight the one that you want to stop and click on "Disable"
