Keeping the interior light in your tractor trailor clean is crucial to preventing eye strain and to maintaining an interior pleasant to live in when you are not driving. Fortunately, most interior lights are simply covered in plastic in a similar manner to car lights, so you can wipe them down in the same fashion. Of course, if you smoke in your tractor trailer or cook on a portable stove, the buildup on the light can get thick. However, a few green cleaning tips will help to brighten the light right back up.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Mix up your cleaning solution. Place a cup of white vinegar and 2 cups of hot water in the spray bottle. Swirl the bottle to mix up the liquid.

  2. Step 2

Remove the plastic cover from the light. It may pop out, or you may need to use the screwdriver to loosen the screws before pulling it loose.

  3. Step 3

Spray down both sides of the plastic cover with your cleaning solution. This will lighten any discoloration and get the plastic clean. Scrub the plastic with a cleaning cloth. If it becomes too dirty, rinse it out or switch to a new cloth so that you do not just spread the dirt around.

  4. Step 4

Fight grease with liquid dish soap. Squirt three drops of liquid dish soap onto the cleaning cloth. Then moisten it with the vinegar and hot water solution. The dish soap should help loosen up any built-up grease from cooking. If necessary, scrub the plastic cover with the plastic scrubbing sponge.

  5. Step 5

Wipe down the interior of the light. Using a dry cloth and firm pressure, wipe down the inside of the light. Since it has been covered, it is not likely that it will be too dirty. However, still remove as much dirt and dust as possible.

  6. Step 6

Let the now-clean plastic light cover dry. Dry it with a clean, dry cleaning rag or you can let it air dry. Make sure it is completely dry before you replace it over the light since; otherwise, you will create a moist environment inside the light that will grow mold or mildew.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not wipe down the light's interior with a damp rag unless you have disconnected it from the power supply.
